Beta Testing Opens Today, September 30, 2024
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has adopted its final rule and form amendments for EDGAR Next. This is a major modernization of the Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval (EDGAR) system that aims to address potential security issues with the legacy platform while enhancing the transparency and accountability of each EDGAR filing.

EDGAR Next represents a significant change to the current account management process. DFIN's SEC experts will provide real-time support and insights, helping filers navigate the new rule and ensure a smooth transition to EDGAR Next. Here's how we’ll help:
- Maintain Accurate Account Information: DFIN will ensure all EDGAR account information, including corporate and contact details, is accurate and current.
- Obtain Individual Account Credentials: DFIN will assist you with obtaining your EDGAR and login.gov credentials, including enrollment on the EDGAR Next dashboard.
- Designate Account Administrators: DFIN will guide you through assigning your company Account Administrators (one for your company and one for DFIN) to manage your EDGAR account, confirm authorized users annually, and keep company and contact details up to date.
Upcoming Key Dates
On September 30, the beta testing environment opened for filers. The subsequent set of key EDGAR Next dates begin in 2025, and we will be with you every step of the way. For DFIN clients, a detailed step-by-step guide and timeline to ensure readiness will be forthcoming shortly. By working with us, you can mitigate risks, streamline the onboarding process, and maintain uninterrupted filing capabilities. Important dates for the EDGAR Next transition include:
- March 24, 2025: The new EDGAR Next dashboard goes live; EDGAR Next enrollment begins for existing filers; the new rule and form amendments become effective; and new filers must complete amended Form ID to access EDGAR Next.
- September 12, 2025: The legacy EDGAR filing process will end.
- September 15, 2025: Compliance with EDGAR Next becomes mandatory for all filings.
- December 22, 2025: Filers not enrolled must submit an amended Form ID to gain access to EDGAR.
